I agree completely with Jason Reeher's comments regarding the war on drugs. The illegalization of drugs has done nothing to stem drug use and actually engenders the violence associated with drug use. Drug laws, by driving the market underground, creates artificially high price premiums which attract mafia-type drug lords to the trade. Legalization would instantaneously remove this premium and halt the arms race between drug lords and law enforcement. Legalization is a necessary step forward in the War on Drugs.
