Police: Ellwood City man kicked in door, assaulted homeowner
An Ellwood City man is facing several charges after allegedly kicking in the door of a house and breaking the side mirror of a pickup truck.
Michael Anthony Roth, 37, is being charged by state police with felony burglary and criminal trespass, as well as misdemeanor criminal mischief and simple assault following an incident at a Muddy Creek Township home.
Police were called at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, to a home on Moraine Drive for a report of a burglary in progress. Police interviewed Robert Peasner, who said Roth was coming for some tools, which were left outside.
Police said Roth arrived around 9:50 a.m. and banged on Peasner’s front window and door before kicking it in. Peasner told police he pushed Roth back onto the front porch before Roth punched Peasner in the face.
Roth also punched and broke the driver’s side mirror of Peasner’s pickup truck, police said. Roth left the scene before police arrived.
Roth is being held in Butler County Prison with a bail of $40,000. His preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. June 10 before District Judge Joseph Nash.
