Youth Sports

Troy Gilliland scored four goals and Jerome Oliver tallied three goals and four assists as the Butler Middle School #1 hockey team defeated Montour, 14-1, recently.

Butler had an 11-1 lead by the end of the first period and had 56 shots on goal for the game. Sam Hampe scored three goals, Matt Bernardi two goals and an assist.

Trey Gilliland had a goal and two assists, Matt Hile a goal and Jared Chantz tallied three assists. Bryce Rearick made five saves in goal for Butler.

Butler plays Pine-Richland at 9 p.m. Sunday at Ice Connection.

Cross Country

Nathan Monday placed eighth overall and Butler Junior High’s boys were fifth at the recent North Allegheny Junior High Invitational. Skyler Vavro was ninth and Josh Fry 13th for the Golden Tornado.

Butler’s girls finished eighth overall. Chesna Tomko was the team’s top individual placer, finishing 24th. Samantha Penrod was 35th.

Wrestling

Levi Donnel, 10, and Santino Sloboda, 8, of Butler both had wins at the Boardman Preseason Kickoff Classic.

Donnel went 5-0 and won the 10-under 65-pound class while Sloboda went 5-1 while placing third in the 8-under 55-pound class.
