Police say man tried to sell stolen motor
MUDDY CREEK TWP —A 28-year-old Lyndora man is accused of trying to sell a stolen boat motor valued at $4,800.
State police on Thursday arrested Christopher S. Snyder after he showed up with the stolen property at another business in Butler County.
District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Snyder on a felony count of receiving stolen property. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.
Police began their investigation about 11 a.m. Thursday when an employee at Crescent Bay Marine at Moraine State Park in Muddy Creek Township reported an overnight burglary.
Stolen from the business was an Evinrude E-Tec motor as well as money, candy and beverages.
At 4 p.m., according to court documents, Snyder appeared with another man at West Penn Marine Sales in Connoquenessing Township with the stolen motor that he offered to sell, according to court documents.
But by then, police said, officials at West Penn had learned about the break-in and theft at Crescent Bay Marina. Police wasted little time arresting Synder
Court documents did not indicate if the other man who accompanied Snyder to West Penn would be charged.
Police noted that Snyder has been cooperative in their investigation.
