William Clifford "Cliff" Wagner, Sr.

William Clifford “Cliff” Wagner Sr., 73, of Butler passed away Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born on April 6, 1942, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late George and Thelma Wagner.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having attained the rank of corporal.

Cliff was a heavy equipment operator for HARSCO for 50 years. He also formerly owned and operated the ARCO Service Station at Litman Road and Route 8 in Butler, where he was known as “Gasoline Gus.”

He was a member of the Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 117 and the American Legion Riders.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean L. Pfabe Wagner, who he married May 16, 1964; one son, William Wagner Jr. of Chicora; two daughters, Sherrie Kennedy of Butler and Catherine Stephens and her husband, Fred of Butler; one daughter-in-law, Tammy Wagner of Butler; three brothers, August, Joe and Mike Wagner; one sister, Susie Cancilla; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

WAGNER — There will be no visitation for William Clifford “Cliff” Wagner Sr., who died Wednesday, May 27, 2015.Military honors will be accorded by the Bantam Marine Detachment 743 at noon Friday at Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Everyone is invited to meet at 11:15 a.m. at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, to participate in a procession to the cemetery.Following military services at the cemetery, the Wagner family will host a get-together at their home.For more information, please visit www.martinfh.net.
