Butler golfers claim opener
Brayden Setnar carded a 41 and Nick Penrod added a 43 as the Butler High School golf team won its first section match, 229-238, over Shaler on Monday.
Ryan Stankovic had a 41 to pace the Titans.
Butler hosts Slippery Rock at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Hiland.
Hannah Conroy earned medalist honors with a 37 Monday as Fox Chapel’s girls golf team defeated Butler, 172-176.
Maggie Feczko paced the Golden Tornado with a 41 while Hannah Folk carded a 42. Butler hosts Indiana at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Hiland.

Grove City placed third in a Region 3 match Monday at the Meadville Country Club. The Eagles shot a 352, 22 strokes behind champion Warren and six strokes behind Meadville.
Cameron Pyle paced Grove City with an 84. Daniel Lucas carded an 86 and Troy Loughry an 88. Warren’s Jake McCullough was medalist with a 75.
Slippery Rock’s Chad Green paced the Rockets with a 91 in a Region 5 match at North Hills Golf Course in Corry.
Slippery Rock totaled 400 strokes to place fourth out of six teams. Rocky Grove took first place with a 353.
Girls Tennis
Defending state champion Emily Gordon won her season-opening match 6-0, 6-0 as Grove City defeated Oil City, 4-1.
The Eagles swept the doubles matches.
