Slippery Rock man charged in assault of girl, 16

A Slippery Rock man is accused of assaulting a 16-year-old girl through a car window with a metal pole.

William Michael Warner, 57, was charged Tuesday, May 12, with misdemeanor simple assault following an April 8 incident in Slippery Rock Township.

Police said they were dispatched to the 400 block of Kiester Road for reports of an assault and a man blocking a vehicle with his truck. Police arrived and found the girl and another woman in a vehicle, but the man had left the scene.

The girl told police the two were going to meet another girl at a nearby residence who she had been “getting into it” with. When they arrived, the girl told police a man came flying down the road and got in front of their vehicle.

The girl said the man exited his truck and reached through her rolled-down window with a metal pole and hit her in the head. Police said the man also attempted to spray them with mace and threatened to break their car window.

Police were led to Warner through his license plate.

According to an affidavit in the case, Warner told police a family member had called him and said she was being harassed, so he drove to the residence. He told police he poked the pole at the girl but never made contact. He also told police he threw the pole out the window on his way home.

Warner’s preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
