Police: Trail of suspected cocaine from bedroom to bathroom led to charges filed
A trail of suspected crack cocaine from a bedroom with a 10-year-old girl in it to the bathroom in a Butler home led police to file charges against a Williamsport man.
Trooper Kurtis Glasgow testified Monday, May 11, he witnessed Shynnell Isacc Walker, 44, run from a second-floor bedroom to the bathroom, then heard a toilet flush while executing a search warrant May 1, at a West North Street home. He said another trooper saw Walker holding a white object when he ran into the bathroom and closed the door.
Police then forced open the door and found Walker inside with suspected crack cocaine on the floor.
Glasgow said he was the second or third officer in a line climbing the stairs to search the home. While the first officer in line moved to apprehend Walker, Glasgow went to the bedroom Walker ran from.
In the bedroom, Glasgow said he found a 10-year-old girl laying on an air mattress. The air mattress and floor had suspected crack cocaine in a trail leading to the bathroom. Suspected crack cocaine and digital scales were also found on a TV stand adjacent to the air mattress, he said.
Glasgow said the suspected crack cocaine collected from the trail leading from the bedroom to the bathroom weighed about two grams.
A bag of marijuana was also found in the pocket of a coat hanging in the room.
Police said Walker, the 10-year-old girl and her mother had been staying in a bedroom of the home for about a week and a half when the search warrant was executed.
Public defender Terri Schultz argued a scale was also found in the main room of the home near the girl’s mother, and officers could not prove the marijuana belonged to Walker.
Walker was charged with one felony count each of child endangerment and possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, two misdemeanor counts of controlled substance possession and one misdemeanor count each of reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and drug paraphernalia possession.
District Judge William Fullerton held all charges for court. The girl’s mother was not charged in the incident.
Walker is being held in Butler County Prison on a $50,000 bail. His formal arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. June 30 in Butler County Common Pleas Courtroom 2.
