BlueSox blank Paints; Sliders fall to Miners
Robert Hawkins struck out seven and allowed two hits over eight shutout innings on Tuesday night to lift the Butler BlueSox to a 2-0 win over the Chillicothe Paints.
Adam Tyson picked up the save after entering with the bases loaded and one in the ninth. He struck out Zac Mathie and got Dominic Brugnoni to fly out to center to end it.
Matt Peters went 3-for-4 for the BlueSox (7-6), while Butler High graduate Cody Herald tallied two hits and stole a base.
West Virginia Miners 6, Slippery Rock Sliders 3 — Storm Wilson was 3-for-4 and David Wilson delivered a quality start with three earned runs over six innings, but the Sliders dropped to 5-8 on the season.
