Richard Gall

Gall

Richard D. “Rich” Gall, 76, of Butler, passed away surrounded by family at Butler Memorial Hospital on Friday, May 1, 2026.

He was born March 21, 1950, in Butler, son of the late Richard A. Gall and Josephine Muto Gall.

He was a 1968 graduate of Butler High School.

Rich most cherished being a husband, dad and pappy. He was known for greeting everyone with a “dad joke” and bringing laughter to the people around him. Rich enjoyed playing his guitars, and some might remember him in his younger days writing music and playing in a country-western band. He was often seen riding his Harley around Butler.

Rich was employed as a computer specialist for Wang Computers as well as Tru-Serv Corporation. He also worked for the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad, like his father, for many years. In addition, Rich spent many years being the true handyman at the family’s childcare business, helping out in any way he could.

Rich truly loved making people smile and he was the light in many rooms he entered. He was the best husband, dad and pappy in the whole, wide world.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Rita Rodgers Gall, whom he married Sept. 30, 1972; as well as his son, Richard “Rich” Gall and his wife, Heidi, of Butler; his daughter, Dr. Elizabeth “Beth” Karns and her husband, David, of Erie; and three grandchildren whom he cherished very much, Autumn, Miranda and Cody Gall.

He is also survived by three siblings, Joanne “Sis” Pinto and her husband, John, of Butler, Diane “Dee” Salisbury and her husband, Roy, of Aliquippa, and William “Bill” Gall and his wife, Mary, of Butler. In addition, many nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents and his “soul dog,” Harley.
