Stella “Maxine” Ross, 101, of Butler, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026.

She was born in Prospect on May 14, 1924, daughter of the late William “DeWitt” and Stella McBride.

Maxine graduated from Prospect High School and worked at several supermarkets throughout her life.

She was known for having a great memory, good sense of humor and was a good friend to all. Maxine enjoyed golf, gardening, doing crossword puzzles, reading and walking.

Maxine was the beloved wife of the late Bertrand “Dutch” Ross, for 56 years until his death in 2003.

Along with her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by her four sisters and two brothers.

ROSS — All services for Stella “Maxine” Ross, who died Thursday, April 30, 2026, will be held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.

Burial will be held privately.

Donations may be made in honor of Maxine to the City Rescue Mission, 319 S. Croton Ave, P.O. Box 965, New Castle, PA 16103.
