Police: Pittsburgh man attempted to take $500 of suspected heroin into prison
A Pittsburgh man is accused of attempting to bring around $500 of suspected heroin into Butler County Prison.
Joseph Jamar Bell, 33, was charged Monday, April 20, by Butler County detectives with felony possession of contraband following an April 8 incident.
Detectives said Bell was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant and transported to Butler County Prison. During a strip search, detectives said Bell was asked to squat and 130 stamp bags of suspected heroin fell from his buttocks.
The stamp bags made up more than 2.5 bricks of heroin with a value of between $500 and $550, according to Tim Fennell, county chief detective .
Bell is being held in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. May 11 before District Judge William Fullerton.
