The Butler Junior High boys won the Butler Junior High Track & Field Invitational recently while the Golden Tornado girls placed second.
Butler's Byron Manchester was named boys track MVP as he won the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, triple jump and anchored the winning 4x400 relay team. Josh Fry won the pole vault, Tyler Rekich the long jump. Rekich was second in the triple jump.
The winning 4x400 relay quartet was Guiness Brown, Steven Green, Skylar Vavro and Manchester.
On the girls side, Gabrielle Boden was named track MVP as she won the 200 meters, took second in the 400 and was part of the winning 4x400 relay team. Kenna Jackson was named field MVP after winning the shot put and taking second in the discus.
The winning girls 4x400 quartet was Chesna Tomko, Alison Altman, Emma Stewart and Boden.
Butler's Lucy Link won the triple jump and Samantha Penrod the pole vault.
Other second-place finishes for Butler were Tomko in the girls 300 hurdles and Vavro in the boys 1,600 meters.
Baseball
Butler's junior varsity improved to 5-2 overall, 4-1 in section, with an 11-4 win over Seneca Valley recently.
Jacob Slomers had a double, single and five RBI, Colby Anderson a double, single and three RBI. Grant Metzger two singles and two RBI.
Wrestling
Santono Sloboda, 9, of Butler went 6-2 and took fifth place in the Midget/60-pound division at the Ohio Tournament of Champions event Saturday in Columbus.
