Andrew Recchia and Michael Carmody scored 14 points each as the Mars boys basketball team defeated Fairmont Prep, Calif., 52-39 Friday at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas.

Carmody added 20 rebounds in the victory, the Planets' third in four games at the Classic.

Khori Fusco scored 13 points for Mars (7-1), which returns to action Jan. 2, hosting Shaler in a Section 3-5A clash.

Seneca Valley split a pair of dual matches Friday night at Canon-McMillan, edging Hempfield 34-33 and losing to Kiski Area 39-32.

Patrick Johnson pinned his opponent at 182 pounds to clinch the Raiders' victory over Hempfield.
