BC3 offers discussion on drugs and teen sex

BUTLER TWP - Butler County Community College will host a discussion on drug use and sexual activity among young people from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 30 in Room 17 of the Admissions and Continuing Education building on the BC3 main campus.

Presenters will be the Rev. Eugene Beard Jr., assistant deputy chief of the state Attorney General's office; Susan VanDyke, Westmoreland County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition chairwoman; and Roberta Lojac, founder of the Ashley Elder Dare Fund.

Lojac's daughter, Ashley, died from a heroin overdose. Lojac will talk about various drugs such as "Special K," Ecstasy, Oxycontin and Rohypnol, better known as "the date rape drug."

Discussions of household products used as inhalants for "huffing," drug paraphernalia, drugs disguised as candy and the warning signs of drug and/or alcohol abuse and the sexual behaviors of children and teens also will be discussed.
