Emily Long
Emily Ellen (Kelly) Long, 71, resident of Grove City, formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026, at AHN Grove City.
Emily was born in Slippery Rock (The Kelly Farm, Worth Township, Butler County) on April 20, 1954, to Ronald S. Kelly and Alda Marie Gray Kelly. She was raised on Kelly Farm and received her education from Slippery Rock area schools.
On April 23, 1971, she married her soulmate, Kenneth R. Long Sr. Together, they celebrated 48 years of marriage and raised four children.
Emily retired from Dollar General in July 2021 after contributing seven years to Dollar General and 11 years to Walmart. She enjoyed planting her flowers, feeding and watching her birds and playing bingo with friends and family. She enjoyed favorite shopping trips with her sisters.
Most of all, she loved everyone unconditionally. Family was all important to her. She is survived by her children, Regina Long (Terry Young), Crystal Long (Ron Baun), Kenneth R. Long Jr. (Amber Foote) and Dan Long (Tanya Long); grandchildren, Meranda, Brooke, Tiffany, Sam, Cory, Shane, Taylor, Ryan, Jackson and Clayton; and all of her great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Donna Vargo and Kathy Young; and brother, Tim Kelly.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; parents; four brothers, Cliff, Ron, Vern and Jerry; sister, Carol; grandson, Jake Baun; and granddaughter, Dalyne Baun.
LONG — The family of Emily Ellen (Kelly) Long, who died Thursday, April 2, 2026, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 9, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
There will be a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Friday, April 10, at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Lewis, retired pastor, of Butler, presiding.
Interment will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery, Worth Township, Butler County.
