BC3 netters sweep to victory

The Butler County Community College women's volleyball team grabbed a 3-0 victory over Potomac State (Md.) College Saturday.

The Pioneers (15-3, 8-0) prevailed by scores of 30-20, 30-22 and 30-19.

Autumn Burke tallied 12 kills and five aces in the win while Angel Snow had six kills and Stephanie Lawson managed 26 digs.

That victory came a day after the Pioneers defeated Garrett County (Md.) Community College 3-2 on Friday. Katherine Smith had a strong match with 12 kills.

Nick Christy scored twice and Mitch Falatch added a goal as Slippery Rock University battled Kutztown to a 3-all tie on Friday.Chris Cook ended the game with five saves in net for SRU.

Despite goals from Janice Feduke and Kathleen Ross, The Rock fell to Mansfield by a score of 3-2.Junior Tara Bailey grabbed eight of 11 shots in net.

Freshman Jeff Weiss earned his second win of the year with a time of 26 minutes, 34 seconds as The Rock men prevailed in a battle with PSAC-West rival Clarion.His teammate, Matt Bluman, took second place in the competition.SRU's women were not as fortunate. Despite a second place finish from Katie Bork (24:38), The Rock fell to the Golden Eagles.

Thomas More (Ky.) returned two Grove City College fumbles for touchdowns en route to a 15-7 win over the Wolverines Saturday afternoon.Grove City's lone score of the contest came in the third quarter when senior quarterback Bradford Clark found Scott Fichter on a 65-yard scoring strike.The Wolverines sacked Thomas More signal caller Nate Berkley nine times, but could not overcome five turnovers.Grove City (0-3, 0-1) will host Muhlenberg College at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
