Bernard Stevens
Bernard Stevens, 79, of Albuquerque, N.M., died April 12.
Born Dec. 16, 1931, in Karns City, he was the son of Walter and June Stevens.
He was a 1949 graduate of Karns City High School, where he performed with the band and choir and was a member of the basketball and baseball teams.
His career included service in the Air Force from 1952 to 1974, the Civilian Aviation Administration (Federal Aviation Administration) in 1956 and the Albuquerque Veterans Affairs Medical Center from 1975 to 1994. He was the seventh member of his family to serve his country. His foreign service included Newfoundland, Greece, Okinawa, the Philippines and Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Stevens; a son, Richard Stevens of Fairfield, Ohio; daughters, Kimberly Moyers of Santa Fe, N.M., and Rebecca Hughes of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandsons, Marshall Stevens and Jeffery Moyers; granddaughter, Alicia Stevens; brothers, Walter and Calvin of Karns City and Paul of Beaver Falls; and a sister, Margie Bailey of East Brady.
He was preceded in death by brothers, John, Carl, William and Robert; and a grandson, Michael Hughes.
He was a member of the Karns City Methodist Church, a life member of Disabled American Veterans, the Airport Advisory Committee and New Mexico classic car clubs.
<B>STEVENS</B> — Services for Bernard Stevens, who died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, were April 16 at the <B>French Mortuary</B>, Albuquerque, N.M. Interment followed April 19 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
