Man charged with statutory sexual assault additionally charged with intimidating witnesses

A Bruin man facing trial for statutory sexual assault was charged with intimidating witnesses after police said he offered his daughter money on multiple occasions to attack his accuser.

Daniel Leroy Wolfe, 40, was charged Tuesday, March 31, by Butler police with felony intimidating witnesses, intimidation by providing information and criminal solicitation following a March 26 report.

Police said they spoke with Wolfe’s and were told Wolfe had previously offered her money to to beat up a juvenile who accused him of rape.

Wolfe is in Butler County Prison after being charged with three felony counts each of statutory sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault, one felony count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and criminal use of a communication facility and three misdemeanor counts of indecent sexual assault in August 2024.

Wolfe’s daughter showed police a conversation between Wolfe and herself from Oct. 22. The conversation included Wolfe telling his daughter the accuser’s name and saying “don’t ever tell anyone I ever told you that name or spoken of it,” police said.

Wolfe’s preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. April 6 before District Judge William Fullerton.
