Police: Man tries to enter home in Jefferson Township
A Saxonburg man repeatedly attempted to enter a Jefferson Township residence while indicating he lived there, police said.
Jacob Isaac Ward, 26, was charged Monday, March 16, by state police with felony burglary and one misdemeanor count each of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest following an incident Monday morning.
Police said they responded to a residence in the 500 block of Dinnerbell Road for reports of a man trying to enter. The homeowner told police the man had began banging on the basement door around 5:15 a.m.
The homeowner told police he yelled through the door to see what Ward wanted, and Ward said he lives there. Police said Ward continued banging on the door and attempting to enter.
The homeowner opened the door a few inches to see who it was, then closed and locked it and told Ward to leave, police said.
After interviewing the homeowner, police said Ward lunged at a trooper twice. After the second time, Ward was apprehended and screamed while being placed in custody.
Police said Ward was highly intoxicated during the incident.
Ward’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. March 24 before District Judge Jack Ripper.
