Knoch High School students earn Eagle Scout

Izabella Spencer

Two Knoch High School students recently earned their Eagle Scout ranks after completing community projects.

Izabella Spencer joined Scouting on March 1, 2020, and is a member of Troop 683. During her time as a Scout, she earned 43 merit badges and held multiple leadership positions, including chaplain aid, troop guide, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader, where she focused her journey and skills learned toward teaching and guiding younger Scouts.

Izabella enjoyed camping outings and weekend events with Kuskitannee Lodge 168, where fellowship focused more on performing cheerful service. Izabella completed 37 nights of camping, 8.5 miles of hiking and 37.5 hours of recorded service. For her Eagle Scout project, she created a stone memorial garden for her church to help organize and offer remembrance for congregation members of the past. On Nov. 10, Izabella completed her Eagle Scout board of review, joining her siblings and friends in earning this highest rank in Scouts BSA.

Izabella has also been active in the marching band for six years, the musical for three years, fall play for a year and has been a junior member of American Legion Post 683 since she was in elementary school. She has two siblings and a stepsibling who are also Eagle Scouts. She is the daughter of Brandi Caldwell.

Kixton Sherman

After his time in Cub Scouts, on March 27, 2022, Kixton Sherman joined Scout Troop 553. He made new friends in the troop and enjoyed the more skill-focused style of the Scout troop. During his time in Scouting, Kixton held multiple leadership positions, including chaplain aide, patrol leader and troop guide. Kixton completed 41 merit badges, 51 nights of camping, 72.32 hiking miles and 19 hours of recorded community service.

Kixton enjoyed his typical outings; as well as weekends with Kuskitannee Lodge 168, having fun and performing service, often at Camp Bucoco. This summer, Kixton will be attending the national jamboree at summit Bechtel, W.Va., where Scouts from around the U.S. gather to trade patches and have fun while creating new friendships and memories. For his Eagle Scout project, Kixton replaced an aging fence along his church’s property, which allowed him to showcase his leadership skills. Kixton earned his Eagle Scout rank Oct. 28, joining his siblings and friends in earning the highest rank in Scouts BSA.

Kixton is involved in youth and government, spent two years in high school jazz band, one year in marching band and three years in the fall play. He is the son of Brandi Caldwell. He also has two other siblings and a stepsibling who are Eagle Scouts.
