Edward L. "Gee" Hart, 86, of Zelienople died Monday at the Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople.

Born Nov. 8, 1922, in Greenville, S.C., he was the son of the late Augustus G. and Rita Beard Hart.

Mr. Hart was a member of the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church and the Together Sunday school class.

He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving as a motor machinist's mate and in underwater demolition. He participated in the invasion of Okinawa.

He retired in 1986 from the Herman Corp. and previously had worked previously for Gulf Oil and as a Metropolitan Life Insurance agent.

A people person, he performed as Skippy The Clown and appeared on the KDKA TV Wilkins Amateur Hour.

He loved to travel, enjoyed walking on South Carolina beaches, car racing, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Keenagers in Portersville.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Henshaw) Hart, who he married May 14, 1945, in Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Jo Beth Kuipers and her husband, Kenneth, of Hamburg, Pa.; two sons, Ronald E. Hart and his wife, Georgia, of Warner Robins, Ga., and Randall L. Hart and his wife, Cynthia, of Zelienople; seven grandchildren, Amy Kuipers, Chad Kuipers, Jennifer Collins, Heather Hart, Jonathan Hart, Justin Hart and Jackie Morris; and two great-grandsons, Colin Morris and Myles Morris.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret H. Sink, and a brother, Augustus Hart Jr.

<B>HART</B> — Friends of Edward L. "Gee" Hart, who died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. John K. Jefferis and the Rev. Gail E. McQueen officiating. Burial will be in the English Lutheran Church Cemetery, Zelienople.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church, 123 N. Pittsburgh St., Zelienople, PA 16063; the Passavant Benevolent Fund/LAS Foundation, 401 S. Main St., Zelienople, PA 16063; or to the Zelienople V.F.D., 111 W.
