Betty Fitzgerald
Betty Anne Fitzgerald, 76, of Butler, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026.
Born in Pittsburgh on Nov. 14, 1949, she was the daughter of the late John L. Fitzgerald Jr. and Betty Day Fitzgerald. Betty grew up in the Highland Park and East Liberty neighborhoods of Pittsburgh.
She was baptized in Glenshaw Presbyterian Church, Glenshaw, Pa., lived in the North Hills most of her life, and was a graduate of North Hills High School, Class of 1967. Betty went on to graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Class of 1972, with a Bachelor of Science in education and art.
Upon graduation, she worked for the learning research and development center at the University of Pittsburgh and then left due to funding cuts. Betty then began a long banking career that lasted from 1977 to 2021. She retired from Clearview Credit Union in December of 2021, after 13 years and most recently worked with the hospitality department at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Betty enjoyed sewing, art, decorating, reading and history. She was a long-standing member of the Butler AM Rotary Club, since 1996, where she was a Paul Harris Fellow and held the offices of treasurer, secretary, sergeant-at-arms, and was Rotarian of the Year 2013-2014. Betty Anne also proudly served on the Salvation Army advisory board.
She was the loving mother of John Fitzgerald (Shannon); sister of the late Mary Lou Fitzgerald; and dear grandmother of Hannah, Liam and Alaina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her faithful companions and beloved dogs, Katie and Jack.
FITZGERALD — Friends of Betty Anne Fitzgerald, who died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home, with Pastor Keith Dunn as officiant.
Interment will follow in Allegheny County Memorial Park.
