Towns

Beatrice Joan "Jo" Barger Towns of Butler died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday in Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in North Washington, she was the daughter of the late Dean Rea and LaVerne Anderson Rea.

Mrs. Towns was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. In her lifetime, she was a trustee, a Sunday school teacher and a Bible school teacher.

Mrs. Towns was a bookkeeper for Milo Williams Jewelers in Butler, where she retired in 1996.

Mrs. Towns is survived by her husband, John W. Towns Jr., who she married Nov. 6, 1999; and three daughters, Deborah Fiscus and her husband, David, of Simpsonville, S.C., Jan Parsons and her husband, Bob, of Bethany Beach, Del., and Amy Fields and her husband, Gary, of Bethlehem, Pa. She also is survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and one brother, Jim Rea of Herman.

Also surviving are two stepsons, John W. Towns III and his wife, Melissa, of Westminster, Md., and Duane Towns and his wife, Marty, of Pittsburgh; seven step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Towns was preceded in death by her sister, Revah Rea Tack, who passed away in August 1986; and by her first husband of 43 years, Meredith "Salty" Barger, who passed away July 15, 1991.

<B>Towns</B> — Friends of Beatrice Joan "Jo" Barger Towns, who died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. James Swanson of Covenant Presbyterian Church officiating.
