Report: Man pointed shotgun at girlfriend
SCRUBGRASS, Venango County — A judge has set $100,000 cash bail for a township man accused of pointing a loaded shotgun at his girlfriend during a domestic dispute early Tuesday morning at their mobile home just outside Emlenton.
Robert J. Ivonowski, 28, is charged with a pair of misdemeanors in the altercation shortly before 3 a.m. on Lisbon Road about two-tenths of a mile north of Route 208 in Scrubgrass Township.
State police say Ivonowski was intoxicated when he got into an argument with his 29-year-old girlfriend. Trooper Michael Orrvick said the defendant at some point grabbed a shotgun and pointed it at her.
The alleged victim apparently took matters into her owns hands.
“She disarmed (Ivonowski),” Orrvick said this morning. “She grabbed the barrel and took it away from him.”
The trooper admitted he was impressed with the woman’s chutzpah, but he stressed that police would not encourage others to take similar action.
The woman was not injured, and police arrested Ivonowski without incident. Troopers also seized the shotgun, which they found was loaded.
District Judge Patrick Lowrey arraigned Ivonowski on charges of simple assault and reckless endangerment on Tuesday. He was placed in the county jail following arraignment.
A preliminary hearing in Venango County Central Court is set for March 16.
