Hedwig “Hedy” Frances Carrara, 101, passed peacefully on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026.

She was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Windber, Pa., one of 11 children of the late Frank and Frances (Kozuchowska) Brzana.

She followed her sister, Mary, to New York City, where she became a telephone operator and truly loved her job. In 1954, she took a cruise to Bermuda, where she met her beloved husband, the late Robert Carrara.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Carrara, of Sutton, Alaska.

She will be missed dearly.
