Butler City Council voted unanimously Thursday, Jan. 29, to approve a $412,000 prepayment toward the chassis for a new fire truck in an effort to save some money.
Councilwoman Lisa Quebedeaux said Butler Bureau of Fire was contacted by Glick Fire Equipment Company, the truck’s manufacturer, to explain the offer. By prepaying for the chassis, she explained the city will save $12,000.
Fire Chief Chris Switala said the truck is expected to finish production in mid-May. It will then be sent to a local shop for upfitting. He said he hopes to have it in service by late summer or early fall.
The next Butler City Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12.
