Police: Butler man steals Mercedes-Benz

A Butler man is accused of breaking into a residence Wednesday, Jan. 28, and stealing $100 and a Mercedes-Benz, Butler city police said.

Ronald A. Kapsin, 45, was charged Thursday, Jan. 29, by Butler city police with one felony count each of burglary and theft.

Police said they were dispatched to the 500 block of West Cunningham Street for reports of a stolen Mercedes-Benz in the area. Police located the vehicle in the parking lot of Butler Beer & Tobacco, and also witnessed a man and woman arguing in the parking lot of Papa John’s.

Police separated the two and the woman accused the man of breaking into another woman’s residence while they were out to dinner and stealing the keys to the Mercedes-Benz and $100.

Police arrested Kapsin and allegedly found he additionally had a stolen check.

Kapsin’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Monday before District Judge William Fullerton. He is being held in Butler County Prison on $75,000 bail.
