Penn State Extension will be offering a webinar to give guidance on how to best keep horses healthy and comfortable through the winter.

According to a release, “Winter Wise: Managing Horses in Cold Weather” will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11. It will explore topics such as shelter needs, nutrition, weather conditions and exercises in low temperatures.

The session will also explore equine thermoregulation — the process of naturally producing and retaining body heat — and management considerations for horses living on pasture during the winter.

The webinar is free, but requires registration by noon Feb. 11. A recording of the webinar will be emailed to registrants within 10 business days and will be available for six months after the event.
