Luigi W. DiGiacobbe Sr., 69, of Freeport died at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday while in the company of family members at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Jefferson Township.

Luigi was born in Curtisville on Nov. 28, 1938, the son of the late Fioravante and Julia Minda DiGiacobbe.

He attended Faith Community Church in Freeport.

He served in the Air Force for eight years as a member of the 38th Bomb Wing while stationed in France. After his discharge, he worked as a truck driver at Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge for 30 years. He also worked as a stocker in the No. 3 Department at the mill until his retirement in 1998.

Luigi was a member of the Outdoor Life Lodge in Fawn Township, a member of the Police Car Owners Association and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed collecting coins, gardening and spending time with his family and all his grandchildren.

Luigi is survived by his wife, Rosetta M. Cornman DiGiacobbe; his daughter, Cindy Burd and her husband, Edward, of Columbus, Ohio; five sons, Luigi W. DiGiacobbe Jr. of Rock Hill, S.C., Dino DiGiacobbe and his wife, Jeanne, of Buffalo Township, Bruce DiGiacobbe and his wife, Carol, of Freeport, Joseph DiGiacobbe of Freeport, and Mario "Rocky DiGiacobbe of Dallas, Texas.

He also is survived by 11 grandchildren; a sister, Jenny Neupert and her husband, John, of Manorville, and a brother, Tony DiGiacobbe and his wife, Eleanor, of Lower Burrell.

<B>DIGIACOBBE —</B> Family and friends of Luigi DiGiacobbe, who died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 12 to 2 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the <B>REDMOND FUNERAL HOME,</B> 524 High St., Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Faith Community Church, the Rev. Chuck Edwards, pastor, officiating.
