Flora Black, 94, of Butler, passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2026.

She was born in Butler on March 26,1931, to the late Clair and Nell (Port) Black.

Flora was a polio survivor. She graduated from Butler High School in 1949 and worked at Butler Memorial Hospital for over 40 years, starting as a registered X-ray technician, then as a registered nuclear medicine technician and was eventually named head of the nuclear medicine department.

Flora loved reading, theater, animals and traveling. She enjoyed being around her friends who brought her so much joy in life. She was a member of Butler Junior and Senior Women’s Club and Oak Hill Christian Church, where she served as a deaconess, elder and choir member.

Flora was never married and leaves behind two cousins, Beth Weitzel, of Butler, and David Boggs, of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and many loving friends who were her extended family including Jim Pugh, who was like a little brother to her, and she was so proud of. Flo thanks Beth for always being there and Larry for “Always driving Miss Daisy.”

BLACK — All services for Flora Black, who died Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, were held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
