James Charles, in his letter to the editor, states that critics of State Representative Metcalfe's comments regarding Christianity and Islam "endorse all other religions' rights to use public facilities for their practices," which is patently false. My position has clearly been against all religions getting any kind of support or endorsement from government. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism are all equally irrational creeds that elevate faith over reason and endorse mythical beings with supernatural powers and should have no place in governmental decision making. Representative Metcalfe seeks to elevate Christianity and give it more credence over other religions when, in fact, they are all species of the irrational. When defending Representative Metcalfe , his supporters need to ask if it is worth casting their lot with a man who--even if it is a hoax--has positions that are considered consistent enough with the KKK that it can legitimately be considered within the realm of possibility that he would garner their endorsement.
