Ronald E. “Ron” Gifford, 85, of Chicora, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, 2025, at Quality Life Services — Sugarcreek.

Ronald was born in Fairview on June 26, 1940. He was the son of the late Lone and Mable Mench Gifford.

He was a 1959 graduate of Fairview Township-Karns City High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served his country during the Cuban missile crisis. Ron retired from Indspec in Petrolia in 2000.

Ron was an avid golfer and was a member of the Chicora Moose golf league. He was a Steelers fan and enjoyed playing cards, traveling with his wife, Sandy, and his favorite treats of ice cream, chocolate and Pepsi.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra K. Stanley Gifford, whom he married in Fairview on March 15, 1960. Also surviving are three children, Ronda D. McGuire and her husband, Dan, of Rimersburg, Colleen A. Farren and her husband, Ken, of Petrolia, and Michael D. Gifford and his wife, Nancy, of Portersville; three grandchildren, Molly Graner and her husband, Rob, Abby Barnhart and her husband, Neal, and Corey Gifford and his wife, Lindsey; three great grandchildren, Rex Graner, Evie Barnhart and Palmer Gifford; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard “Bud” and Ann Stanley, of Sarver; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by four brothers.

GIFFORD — Friends of Ronald E. “Ron” Gifford, who died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.

Members of the Chicora and Bradys Bend American Legion posts will conduct military honors at 12:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Barger, pastor of the Scrubgrass Stone Church in Emlenton, officiating.

Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.
