Joseph J. Hockenberry, 59, of Butler, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at his home.

He was born Jan. 6, 1966, in Butler, and was the son of the late Charles and Marlene (Minehart) Hockenberry.

Joe was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He worked for many years in the tree service industry and attended First United Methodist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing bingo and visiting casinos.

Surviving are his sister, Kimberly (Jim) Laidlaw, of Valencia; his nieces and nephews, Nathan, Caitlin, William, Kyle and Hannah; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and three stepbrothers, Kenneth, Mitch and Phillip Hockenberry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister.

HOCKENBERRY — Friends of Joseph J. Hockenberry, who died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, will be received from 6 p.m. until the time of the service at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with Pastor Stephen Morse officiating. Military honors will be accorded immediately following the service.

Private burial will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.
