Joseph Henry Losco, 93, of Cranberry Township died Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford.

Born July 16, 1914, in Ambridge, he was the son of Joseph and Adeline Doyle Losco.

At 18, he passed the exam to open his amateur radio station W3MSA, which he designed, built and operated until 2005.

He was a retired shop foreman in radio and TV repair at the Gimbel Brothers Department Store. He retired in July 1979 after 32 years.

He built tractors, a motorcycle and a sailboat, all out of old parts. He could repair anything. He loved life and his family.

He was an Army veteran, serving in the 331st F.A. Bn. Hq. Btry., 86th Infantry Division. He was a staff sergeant, graduating from the Field Artillery Radio Mechanic School at Fort Sill, Okla. He received the European Theater Ribbon with a Bronze Star and the Pacific Theater Ribbon.

He is survived by a son, who worshipped his father, Alfred P. Losco of Cranberry Township; a stepbrother, Clarence Losco of Sewickley; two stepsisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Edith) Shaffer of Baden and Mrs. Charles (Shirley) Shaffer of Pittsburgh; two nephews; five great-nephews; and a great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Smith Losco, whom he married July 12, 1941, and who died May 21, 2001; and a stepsister, Teddy Immekus.

<B>LOSCO</B> — Friends of Joseph Henry Losco, who died Thursday, July 10, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crow Ave., Mars. Service and interment will be private in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Pine Township.
