Rettig, Eckel

Christi Rettig of Butler and Chris Eckel of Lynchburg, Va., were united in marriage at 3 p.m. Aug. 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Butler. The Rev. Peter Nordby officiated. The couple greeted guests during a reception at the Summit Township Sportsman Club.

The bride is the daughter of Gerald Rettig of Butler and the late Carol Rettig. Parents of the prospective bridegroom are Claudia Eckel of Evington, Va., and the late Siebert Eckel.

The honor attendant was Breane Jernigan of Fenelton. Bridesmaids included Candice Horstman of Fenelton, Annie Allen of Chicora, Kristen Ordway of Evington and Rachel Birckbichler of Butler. The junior bridesmaid was Brittany Austel of Butler. Katelyn Ordway of Evington served as the flower girl.

Performing the duties of best man was Mike Abbott of Concord, Va. Ushers included Larry Johns of Rustburg, Va.; Eric Rettig of Butler; Alan Eyler of Evington; and Justin Pyle of Butler. Butler residents Joshua Eckel and Evan Weston were the ring bearers.

The bride is a 2004 graduate of Butler High School. She is currently a student at Penn State University.

The groom graduated in 1997 from Rustburg High School. He is employed at Cast Con Stone in Saxonburg.

Following a honeymoon trip to Niagara Falls, Canada, the couple is making their home in Butler.
