Gloria E. DeMatteis, 82, of Boyers passed away at 5:35 p.m. Saturday at the Slippery Rock Personal Care Home.

She was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Butler. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Conti and Onorina "Nora" Caruso Conti.

She was a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church. She was a life member of the Altar Society of St. Alphonsus Parish. She was chairwoman of the Epiphany Hall Kitchen Committee and was kitchen chairwoman of the Boyers Festival for 35 years. The Pittsburgh Diocese presented her with the "Manifesting the Kingdom Award" in 2001, the highest award presented to a lay person, for all of the many charitable duties she did for her church.

She was a cafeteria worker at Marion Township Elementary School and Moniteau High schools for 20 years. She also was a member of Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by one daughter, Norma Donaldson of Boyers; three sons and their spouses, Joseph and Christine DeMatteis of Boyers, Robert and Kimberly DeMatteis of Boyers and Mark and Tina DeMatteis of Boyers; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Berandino Andreassi of Boyers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest DeMatteis, who passed away Dec. 10, 2003; and two brothers, one being an infant.

<B>DeMATTEIS</B> — Friends of Gloria E. DeMatteis, who died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Epiphany Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Thompson, formerly of St. Alphonsus Parish, officiating. Burial will be in the Epiphany Cemetery.The rosary will be led at 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by the Knights of Columbus of Grove City.
