John C. Reeder

John C. Reeder, 83, of Eighty-Four died at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday in Donnell House.

Born Aug. 25, 1925, in Butler, he was the son of the late Frederick John and Mabel Wofford Reeder.

Mr. Reeder graduated from Penn State University with an engineering degree.

He served in the Army with the 331st Army Air Force Pase Unit. While in the service, he received Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon and American Theater Ribbon.

Mr. Reeder worked for Westinghouse as an electrical engineer for 48 years.

He attended the Thomas Presbyterian Church, Eighty-Four.

Mr. Reeder was a huge Penn State football fan. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed gardening.

On Sept. 21, 1981, he married Betty Frazier, who survives. Also surviving are seven sons, Dennis (Beverly) Reeder of Alabama, Kenneth (Debra) Reeder of Texas, David Reeder of North Carolina, Matthew Reeder at Michigan State University, Joel Reeder of Claysville, Edward (Cathy) Randour of Erie, and Alan (Sharon) DePaoli of Bridgeville; four daughters, Susan (William) Kurtz of Georgia, Carrie (Robert) Amic of McDonald, Tamara Hampe of Houston, Judith (Gary) Lander of Monongahela; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Reeder was the last of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Reeder Jr.; a brother, Paul Reeder, and four sisters, Mary, Helen, Genieve and one who died in infancy.

<B>REEDER </B>— Friends of John C. Reeder, who died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today. The service follows visitation at 8 p.m. today at <B>Salandra Funeral Service</B>, 304 W. Pike St., Canonsburg (724-745-8120).Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Please meet the family at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. Full military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guards Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
