Dorothy Steighner
Dorothy L. Steighner, 93, of Saxonburg, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at the Embassy of Saxonburg.
Dorothy was born in Butler, Feb. 16, 1932, and was the daughter to the late George and Ethel (Andrews) Rule.
Dorothy graduated from Butler High School in 1950, then went on to obtain her L.P.N. certification. Dorothy was a member of Summit Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Eastern Star – Magueda Chapter. She enjoyed homemaking and being involved in church functions such as the Summit food bank: Summit Loaves and Fishes. Dorothy also enjoyed volunteering at Butler Memorial Hospital’s Cherry Tree.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Daniel (Tammy) Steighner of Butler; her daughter, Kimberly Steighner of Saxonburg; and her daughter-in-law, Luanne Steighner of Saxonburg. She also is survived by five grandchildren, Cory (Jayme) Steighner, Katlyn (Matt) Walsh, Michael (Nikki) Steighner, Eric (Maggie) Steighner and Amanda (Paul) Thomassen; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Steighner, whom she married June 6, 1953, and who passed away June 22, 2023. She also was preceded in death by one son, Robert Steighner.
STEIGHNER — Friends of Dorothy L. Steighner, who died peacefully Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 East North St., Butler.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, Butler, with Carol Novy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Summit Loaves and Fishes Food Bank, 181 Caldwell Drive, Butler, PA 16002.
