Legislative Roundup: Read about the bills introduced by state Sens. Hutchinson and Vogel amid the state budget impasse

Despite stalled budget negotiations, members of the state General Assembly haven’t been idle over recent months. Here is a look at some of the legislation introduced by those representing Butler County since June:

Sen. Scott Hutchinson, R-21st

Hutchinson has been the primary sponsor of one bill already introduced. Hutchinson recent legislation includes:

• SB1053, in conjunction with state Sen. Timothy Kearney, D-26th, which would expressly provide workers’ compensation coverage for volunteers participating in emergency services fundraising activities.

Hutchinson is also cosponsor of a resolution to name a state Victims of Communism Memorial Day.

An additional piece of legislation yet to be introduced but circulating in search of cosponsors:

• would remove real property the real estate transfer tax exemption from properties transferred to the state Game Commission, Fish and Boat Commission or to a conservancy; and remove the exemption when property is transferred from a conservancy to a state agency.

Sen. Elder Vogel, R-47th

Vogel sponsored resolutions designating September 2025 as Hunger Action Month and October 2025 as Pork Month.
