Police: 2 men found in Clay Twp. residence with marijuana, weapons
Two men are accused of burglarizing a Clay Township residence while carrying weapons, marijuana and related paraphernalia.
Craig Allen Ambrose, 46, of Elizabeth, and Page Donaven Swingle, 45, of Cape Canaveral, Fla., were each charged Friday, Nov. 7, with felony burglary and one misdemeanor count each of possessing an offensive weapon, controlled substance possession and drug paraphernalia possession following a Thursday, Nov. 6 incident.
Police said they were dispatched to a residence on Hall Road for reports of two men inside when the residence should have been empty. Police attempted to enter the residence and found all doors locked.
The property owner told police the doors should not have been locked, and the residence had been cleared out and unoccupied after the previous resident died.
The property owner also told police there was a key hanging on a wall in the detached garage on the property, but police found the key was missing.
Police then forced entry into the residence and took Ambrose and Swingle into custody. Police said multiple bags of leafy marijuana were in plain view along with glass smoking devices, THC wax, THC vape canisters, grinders, spoons, brass knuckles and switchblades.
Police also found a blowtorch and other drug paraphernalia in a box inside the residence.
Ambrose reportedly told police the paraphernalia and marijuana belonged to both men. He also told police both of them had been in the residence for a couple days.
Preliminary hearings for the two men are scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 18 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
