Kenneth Bellinger Blair, 96, of Sarver, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born April 6, 1929, in Pittsburgh, he was the fourth child of James and Lucile Blair.

Ken served as an army medic in a MASH unit during the Korean War. After discharge, he completed a bachelor’s degree at Penn State and served as president of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. His degree would lead to an 11-year career as a teacher at Oakmont Junior High School in Western Pennsylvania.

In 1963, Ken married Zarah Brown. A blended family would lead to a full house of five children, all of whom survive Ken today: India Loevner (Steve), Kimberly Hanna (Dean), Charles Blair (Susan), Breton Blair (Yumiko) and Brittany Hay (Jon), as well as 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Along with a family, came the birth of a new career — Ken would attend nursing school and later nursing administration to operate Fair Winds Manor. Together with Zarah, he ensured the well-being of countless senior citizens. His transition to hospice would be a moment for Ken to receive back the heartfelt care he had shared with so many.

Upon retirement from nursing, Ken remained active with his church, Sowers Chapel, where he shared his faith and love for his Creator. Ken would also do charity work through Meals on Wheels, Allegheny Valley YMCA (board of directors), Slippery Rock University (board president) and Butler Rotary. Ken had a passion for sports and was an enthusiastic fan of the Nittany Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.

He is now survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Zarah; and children mentioned.

BLAIR — A memorial service for Kenneth Bellinger Blair, who died Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Sower’s Chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Sowers Chapel at sowerschapel.org.
