John Francis Auther, 69, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at Quality Life Services — Chicora, from cancer.

A lifelong resident of Bakerstown, John dedicated over 40 years of service to the Richland Township Public Works Department. He was known for his kindness, generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. John was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sister, Jill Smaretsky, and her husband, Mike; his stepdaughter, Crystal Means; and his stepgrandchildren, Remington and Colt Krstonich; as well as in-laws, Danny Housekeeper and Kim Auther.

He is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Auther; his son, Dustin Auther; his sisters, Jackie Mimm (Steve) and Janet Housekeeper; and his brother, Jeff Auther.

In keeping with John’s wishes, no services are planned.
