Thibodeau chosen as new Butler County clerk of courts
Tammy Thibodeau won the race to become Butler County’s newest clerk of courts in the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 4, replacing longtime Clerk of Courts Lisa Lotz.
With 35,467 votes, or 59% of the vote, Thibodeau, a longtime court clerk, beat out her only challenger, Butler Area School District teacher Michael De Nee, who received 24,612 votes, or 41% of the vote, according to unofficial election results reported in Butler County Bureau of Elections summary reports. There were also 21 write-in votes.
Thibodeau will replace Lotz, who will retire at the end of 2025 following a 32-year run in the position. Lotz has worked in Butler County for 44 years total.
The clerk of courts is elected to a four-year term and has the responsibility of maintaining criminal and juvenile records for the county’s Court of Common Pleas.
“I want to thank Butler County and trusting me in this very important position,” Thibodeau said. “I want to thank everyone who put up signs for me and advocated for me. I am very humbled.”
Thibodeau has previously worked in the Butler County clerk of courts office for 15 years. Prior to this, she spent 10 years working for attorneys Norman Jaffe and Murray Shapiro, followed by five years in the prothonotary’s office.
“I'm going to hit the ground running on Day One with no lapse in service to the public and the same level of service that people have known under Lisa Lotz,” Thibodeau said. “I'm very grateful for everybody and for the support I've received.”
