Women’s volunteer efforts recognizedPENN TWP — The volunteer efforts of two women were recognized Thursday when the Penn-Glade Lions presented them with “The Heart of the Lion Award.”This award is given to an individual who is not a member of a Lions club but volunteers to help others.The winners were Janet Senka of Cranberry Township and Debbie Lerch of Valencia.The presentations were made at the Penn Glade Lions Club building on Church RoadBoth women are involved in many fundraisers and are especially active volunteering for VOICe, an organization that provides crisis intervention to victims of violence.Penn-Glade Lions also presented a check for $577 to Kaitlyn Veiock, a representative from VOICe. The club also filled an SUV with products for the center.The money and products were raised during a club-sponsored scrap booking event May 14.

New York woman wins Jeep contestWORTH TWP — A New York woman who was a volunteer at the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival won $23,000 Sunday in Jeep parts and accessories.Molly McArthur of Yonkers, N.Y., won the Ultimate Jeeper contest after her key unlocked a prize box to win her the grand prize.McArthur helped out with the three-day festival, according to festival director Patti Jo Lambert.
