Dorothy Moses

Moses

Dorothy Elaine Moses, 84, of Butler, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at the Embassy of Saxonburg nursing home.

Born Oct. 7, 1941, in Lyndora, she was the daughter of the late Isadore and Katherin (Beitch) Polanec.

Dorothy was a homemaker and, along with her husband, Chuck, owned and trained harness racehorses and was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association. They were proud owners of Tremor Hanover, 2011 Pacer of the Year at the Meadows. It gave her enjoyment in her senior years to watch her grandsons, Aaron and Shawn, drive racehorses at the Meadows; along with spending time with her great-grandson, Lucas; and listening to music composed by her son, Chuck Moses.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Charles III, Debra and Richard Moses, and Christine (Bryn) Martin; grandsons, Aaron (Jennifer) and Shawn (Dawnelle) Johnston, and Mark and Michael Moses; great-grandson, Lucas Johnston; three brothers, Isadore, Thomas (Linda) and Richard “Dick” Polanec; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles Moses II, on Dec. 30, 2021; four brothers, William, Edward, Albert and Fred Polanec; and two sisters, Virginia Uram and Rose Marie Hindman.
