Gustaf ‘Bud’ Norling III

Norling

Gustaf “Bud” William Norling III, 76, of West Sunbury, passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was born Aug. 19, 1949, in Butler, the son of the late Gustaf William Norling Jr. and Bessie (Varellis) Norling.

Bud proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, from June 3, 1969 to Dec. 5, 1970.

He was a truck driver for various companies during his career.

He enjoyed fishing, working on his train collections, gardening, and reading and watching documentaries about history and military events. Bud was known for his competitive spirit during mini golf games and his enthusiasm for racing — a passion he happily shared after marrying into the Reges family. Above all, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren, who were his greatest joy.

Surviving are his two daughters, Rhonda (Robert) Hall and Kelly Norling, both of West Sunbury; and three grandchildren, Sean, Samantha and Kyle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jean (Reges) Norling, whom he married June 26, 1971, and who passed away Jan. 2, 2021; as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Doris Reges.
