Sylvia Stypula
Sylvia R. Stypula, 93, of Butler, peacefully passed away while surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Bob Selfridge.
Born Dec. 1, 1931, in the community of Diaz, Indiana County, she was the daughter of the late Leo Bee and Viola Bottegal Bee.
A homemaker, Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and the Women’s Council of St. Peter. She also belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America.
Sylvia is survived by two daughters, Michelle Cahlin, of Butler, and Diane Selfridge and her husband, Robert, of Lyndora; five grandchildren, Rachel Miller, Steven Denny and his wife, Wendy, Erin Larson, Isabelle Larson, Anna Sebring and her husband, Jeremy; three great-grandchildren, Owen, Patrick and Larkin Denny; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Stypula, whom she married April 30, 1955, and who passed away Dec. 30, 2020; and one daughter, Elaine Stypula.
STYPULA — Friends of Sylvia R. Stypula, who died Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, will be received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, in MARTIN FUNERAL HOME Downtown, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler, with the Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
