Ralph W. Hayes Jr.
Ralph W. Hayes Jr., 67, of Center Township passed away early Thursday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 14, 1942, in Butler, the son of the late Ralph W. Hayes Sr. and Norma B. (Williams) Hayes.
Ralph was retired from AK Steel after 36 years. He worked in plant protection at the time of his retirement.
He was a member of the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years and served as fire police captain for the past 20 years.
Ralph was one of the founders of the Unionville/Center Township Dive Team, which was formed April 11, 1969.
He was a Protestant.
Surviving are his wife, Rita L. Hayes, who he married June 30, 1962; three daughters, Barbara (James) Trump of DuBois, Dawn Schaffner and her significant other, Keith Brown, of Butler and Sheryl (Eugene) Brown of Butler; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Cathy (James) Flick of East Lake, Ohio; two brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Hayes and Donald (Teirrah) Hayes, all of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
<B>Hayes</B> — Friends of Ralph W. Hayes Jr., who passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Matthew Kail of the Unionville Presbyterian Church officiating.
