[naviga:h3]Jennings sets Cherry Pie Hikes[/naviga:h3]

BRADY TWP — The Harmony Museum will sponsor three Cherry Pie Hikes Feb. 23 at Jennings Environmental Center, 2951 Prospect Road.

There are three different hikes to choose from:

A seven-mile hike on the North Country Trail;

Three 75-minute nature walks led by naturalists from the center, and:

n Six history hikes that include a re-enactment of the musket shot that almost killed a young George Washington.

The hikes and nature walks honor the 287th birthday of the first president, as well as his 1753 mission in Western Pennsylvania.

Reservations are required and must be made by Feb. 20. Visit events.dcnr.pa.gov. and search “Cherry Pie.”

MARS — The Mars Public Library, 107 Grand Ave., has the following events slated in February:

7 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 6 “Estate Planning & Elder Law.” This is a free program presented by the Sechler law firm. Sign up at the library or call 724-625-9048 to register.

10:30 a.m. Feb. 16 “Steam Saturday: Electric Circuits.” Create a simple circuit and learn about electricity. Registration required. Sign up at the library or call 724-625-9048 to register.

1 p.m. Feb. 21 “Marketing the Presidency.” Free program presented by Steve Mihaly, longtime collector and enthusiast of Americanpolitical history articles. Registration required. Sign up at the library or call 724-625-9048 to register.

7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 28 “Basics of Shoeing & Hoof Care.” This free program will be presented by Jill Beidl-McCandless, farrier. The program is for all ages and will cover shoeing, hoof care and prevalent diseases affecting lameness in hoofed animals. Registration required. Sign up at the library or call 724-625-9048 to register.

[naviga:h3]Church will host violence workshop[/naviga:h3]

MARS — Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, hosts a domestic violence awareness workshop at 7 p.m. Feb. 11.

The workshop, offered in cooperation with the Victim Outreach Intervention Center of Butler County, will touch on topics such as the cycle of violence and where to get help.
